CRJ 200: Introduction to Firearms

3 credits

This course will develop a safety first mindset while introducing the law enforcement pistol. This will include comprehensive classroom lecture to build the foundation of safe pistol handling. Students will develop proficiency while learning from law enforcement professionals and will use the Maine Criminal Justice Academy standard of proficiency as the final graded assignment. This course will also cover pistol characteristics, types of pistols, ammunition, pistol shooting fundamentals, Shooting positions, clearing stoppages, and cleaning. Fall and Summer

Prerequisite(s): CRJ/CLE major or instructor permission.
Co-requisite(s): None.
