The Education program at UMFK is a transition program with UMPI (University of Maine at Presque Isle). The program is consistent with the UMPI program requirements. Faculty and administration of the UMPI Education program will work to ensure that students have access to a high quality program in a rural area that is affordable and prepares them for professional success. The Education faculty, staff, and administration contribute to the realization of UMPI’s mission, and the extension of the UMPI Education program to the UMFK campus.The objectives of the off-campus/online programming stem from the need to increase access to baccalaureate education in the State of Maine and to minimize travel. Education students will be able to fulfill all course work at the UMFK campus by utilizing onsite and online class offerings.

Students who complete the UMFK portion of the 2 + 2 Trans-Education with UMPI, can earn a General Studies (AA, On campus or online) . For the students in this program, the UMPI course EDU 261, Educational Technology in the Classroom, will fulfill the UMFK Information Fluency general education requirement.
