ENG 250: American Literature I: Beginnings to 1865

Surveys major American authors from the Colonial Period to 1865; readings will also include Native American narratives, slave narratives, and early women writers to better understand how American literature is a cultural matrix representing the values, beliefs, and world view of the authors and their audiences.
