NUR 245: Clinical Judgment and Reasoning

2 credits

This course will introduce the transfer nursing student to professional nursing through foundational nursing concepts. These concepts will include the nursing process, professional and legal aspects of nursing practice, therapeutic communication, documentation, informatics, theory, research, evidence-based nursing practice, the healthcare delivery system and financial reimbursement. In addition to the topics listed above the student nurse will also be introduced to
nutrition, health and wellness, health disparities, grief, dying, political activism, complementary and alternative modalities. Students will utilizes case studies to deepen their understanding and application of critical thinking, clinical judgment as applied to person-center care.

Prerequisite(s): GPA >= 2.5, BIO 220  , BIO 221  , NUR 201L  or NUR 202L
