NOR 422: Land and Environment of the Arctic

3 credits

The course provides an in-depth understanding and analysis of the land and environment of the circumpolar world of the  Arctic and adjacent sub-Arctic regions.  The interaction between humans, economies, and the environment will be discussed as well as historical trends and future predictions.  An exploration of the unique features and data sets concerning the seas, ice, coast, mountains, and environmental processes and their influence on human habitation, governance, and commerce will be analyzed. 3 hours of lecture.
