NUR 640: Epidemiology and Population Health

3 credits

This graduate-level course will promulgate the core principles of epidemiology within a population health framework. The course will demonstrate how epidemiology can have a profound impact on health and wellness, and the evolution of epidemiological science will be incorporated throughout the course. The course will highlight a variety of settings and epidemiological roles demonstrating the importance and practicality of this discipline in relation to the Advanced Practice Nurse. Population health will be incorporated into epidemiological concepts and designs, which will be covered in detail and applied by the student in a final project. This is an application-based course where analytical tools of epidemiology, and calculations, will foster skill development and necessary familiarity with epidemiology for the Advance Practice Nurse.
 

Prerequisite(s): Must be enrolled in the Graduate Master of Science in Nursing program or instructor’s permission.
