ENV 120: Rivers, Relationships & Ruins1 credits
This 10-day summer research learning experience (RLE) is a 4-day expedition on the Allagash River, with a paired weekly seminar during Fall Semester. Students use citizen science methodologies exploring peoples¿ relationships with water in causing and resolving environmental issues, while learning to safely paddle a canoe or kayak in moving water (up to grade II rapids), camp in a backcountry setting, plan and execute a multi-day backcountry expedition, and reduce their ecological footprint. RLE is for students to propose a co-creative relationship among people and water overcoming challenges posed by human needs for and desires to exploit water as a resource. Lecture Fall
