NUR 652: Psychiatric/Mental Health Theory I3 credits
This course builds comprehension and application of pharmacotherapeutics and psychotherapy theories for those individuals with a mental health issue. Advanced practice and interprofessional psychiatric therapeutic frameworks are examined. Adverse Childhood Events Studies (ACES) are discussed and then evaluated for integration in the care of individuals with mental health issues. Data banks and quality assurance findings, matched with evidence based best practice is Web-based, tele, written, oral, and electronic communications is inspected for applicability and the enhancement of care. Treatment plan development is explored to reflect biopsychosocial theories, evidence based standards of care, and practice guidelines. An examination of state mental health laws, including state laws related to involuntary hospitalization and commitment is included. Lecture
