Theoretical foundations of individual, group, and family approaches are evaluated. Theoretical foundations of trauma-focused care and recovery models of care are examined. Risk mitigation strategies are analyzed including treatment for psychiatric emergencies. Theories and concepts associated with crisis management such as intervention risk versus benefit, level of risk, safety, lethality assessment, stress adaptation, crisis theories, and disaster response are all analyzed. Theories and evidence based practice related to neurobiology and genetics as they pertain to mental illness is assessed. Lecture
