NUR 452: Mental Health Nursing5 credits
LECTURE
Introduces concepts and principles of mental health nursing across the lifespan. Interdisciplinary aspects of holistic care delivery are explored. Specific theories, therapeutic communication approaches, disorders of human behavior, evidence-based treatment modalities, and the nursing process are utilized to promote patient-centered care that is culturally appropriate, safe, and effective.
CLINICAL COMPONENT
Explores holistic mental health nursing interventions in a variety of settings. The nursing process is utilized and interventions focus on the promotion, restoration, and maintenance of optimal wellness. Students must provide own transportation. . Lecture 3 credits. Clinical 2 credits. Offered Summer and Fall.
Prerequisite(s): >2.5 GPA; NUR 335 , NUR 360 , NUR 365 ; PSY 308 .
