NUR 662: Psychiatric/Mental Health Theory II3 credits
Models of integrative care skills, such as consultations, referrals, etc, are appraised. Various types of screening instruments are interpreted and assessed for value. Pharmacological and complementary therapies are evaluated. Best practices to manage psychiatric emergencies are examined. Students will gain comprehensive knowledge of psychopathology, including DSM V signs and symptoms and neurobiology. Demonstrates knowledge of primary, secondary, and tertiary prevention activities, such as health promotion, immunizations, anticipatory guidance, parenting skills, lifestyle modifications, psychosocial rehabilitations, in home family treatments, risk reductions, and Complementary and alternative medicine (CAM).
