NUR 704: Ethical Role Development in Doctoral Nursing Practice

3 credits

This course examines the relationships between nursing science, research, and education. Students explore the various functions, roles, and responsibilities that doctorally prepared nurses fulfill. Further, the positions that nurses with a doctorate in nursing practice (DNP) hold is identified and explored. Course concepts include the evolution of DNP education, ethical decision making, and the importance of evidence-based practice. Other course concepts include accountability, fidelity, teamwork and collaboration, and comportment. Because of the importance of emotional intelligence, this concept is also studied. Students will identify the importance of cultivating a sustainable professional identity in nursing.
