COS 354: Network Security

Covers the technologies used and principles involved in creating a secure computer networking environment. Provides the student a variety of hands-on and case project opportunities that reinforce the concepts. Explores authentication, attack types and malicious code, threats and countermeasures, securing e-mail, Web applications, remote access, file and print services, security topologies, intrusion detection systems, firewalls, physical security concepts, security policies, disaster recovery, and computer forensics. Prerequisite(s): COS 338, ELC 200 or COS 206 or instructor’s permission.
Co-requisite(s): Provides a fundamental understanding of network security principles and implementation.
