HIT 200: Introduction to Health Information Technology

2 credits

This course introduces the student to basic information about the healthcare system. The student will participate in discussions of types of clinical personnel and health care settings, gain an overview of types and purposes of information gathered, learn the history of Health Information Technology (HIT ) in the United States and various types of Health Informatics. The course will also provide overviews of errors including privacy and security breaches, quality and safety for HIT, customer service and satisfaction. Students will gain an understanding of leadership and leadership theories, a basic understanding of project management tools and techniques and a basic understanding of learning management systems.
