Mission Statement
The Associate of Arts major of Behavioral Sciences is designed to provide students with the foundations of the Behavioral Sciences, practical experience, and career development. It is designed to interface with the baccalaureate in Behavioral Science, while providing students more options in their higher education careers. Students who complete the AA in Behavioral Science will have sufficient skills and knowledge for entry-level Human Services employment in Maine. Students graduating with the AA in Behavioral Science may be admitted into the Baccalaureate in Behavioral Science at the junior level, if they choose to continue into a baccalaureate program.
Program Description/Goals
The Associate of Arts in Behavioral Science is a 60 credit (2 year) degree combining a sound liberal arts foundation with the fundamentals of anthropology, psychology, and sociology.
Techniques for Assessment
The student will be assessed both directly and indirectly. Students are to maintain a year-by-year portfolio of exemplars of their work. In the final year, the portfolio will be reviewed by at least 2 Behavioral and Social Sciences faculty.
